Vist 2.0: Agent Kanban Board, Task Steps and Markdown Notes

Tasks get Markdown notes and a checklist of steps, and a new Agent pipeline board shows what your coding agents are working on. All of it works in the app and over MCP.

Agent kanban board

Board view now has label boards next to the status board. The first one is the Agent pipeline: Idea, Ready for agent, In progress, PR open, Needs review / Blocked, and Done. Each column matches an agent:* label. Turn it on in Settings › Connect AI › Task boards.

  • Move cards by drag or with the Move to… menu. Only the agent:* label changes.
  • Repo chips filter the board to one repository.
  • Agent status on each card: PR link and state, last update, and why it's blocked, read from the note's Agent log.
  • Live refresh when an agent changes labels through MCP or the CLI.

Read the Agent kanban board docs, including the /vist-next command for Claude Code, and why we built it. Available on all plans, including Free.

Task steps and Markdown notes

  • Markdown notes on every task. Bold, lists, links, code and tables render in the task detail panel. Up to 20,000 characters.
  • Steps. Break a task into a checklist: add, tick, rename, drag to reorder and delete steps in the detail panel. Steps are deliberately light, with no due date, priority or labels of their own.
  • Progress on the card. List rows and board cards show a 2/5 chip when a task has steps.
  • Over MCP and the CLI. get_task returns notes and steps, update_task(notes:, steps:) writes them, and list_tasks shows has_notes and steps_progress.
  • Available on all plans, including Free.

Read the task steps and notes docs and why they're steps, not subtasks.

Also fixed: list_tasks filtered by a label now returns each task's full label list, so an agent that reads and then rewrites labels no longer drops the others.

Board view and editing steps are desktop and tablet only for now. On phones, task cards show the steps progress chip.
