Labels are tags you apply to notes across any folder, giving you a second axis of organisation on top of folders. Where a folder groups notes by project or area, a label cuts across all folders — useful for things like #client, #reference, or #review. All your labels appear in the left sidebar, and clicking one gives you a filtered view of every note that carries it.
Adding a label to a note
Type a label name in the tag field at the top of any note. You can add as many labels as you like. Labels are shared across your account — if the label does not exist yet, it is created when you save the note.
The Labels list
Labels appear in the left sidebar below your folders. The first five labels are always visible. If you have more, click More… to expand the full list inline, and click again to collapse it. The currently-active label is highlighted so you always know where you are.
Click any label to open a filtered note list showing every note tagged with it — the same experience as clicking a folder.
Rename, merge, and delete
Hover over any label row in the sidebar to reveal the context menu. From there:
- Rename — updates the label name everywhere immediately
- Delete — removes the label from all notes; the notes themselves are kept
- Merge — rename a label onto an existing label name to merge them: every note tagged with the old label is re-tagged with the surviving one, duplicates are deduplicated, and the now-empty label is removed. No notes are lost.
